Terms of Service

We wrote these terms in plain language. They explain what Hissas offers, what we expect from you, and the limits of our responsibility.

Last updated: 2 November 2026Also read: Privacy Policy

1.What Hissas is

Hissas is a free service for recording shared expenses and debts between friends, family and groups. It works out each person’s share and suggests the fewest payments to clear the debts.

Hissas does not move or hold money, does not process payments and does not connect to banks or e-wallets. “Settle up” in the app only records a payment made outside it (for example in cash or by transfer).

2.Accepting the terms

By creating an account or using Hissas you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

3.Your account

  • You can sign up with an email address and password (we send a link to confirm your email), or with a Google account.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Hissas.
  • Give accurate information, and use a name your friends know you by.
  • Keep your password secret; you are responsible for what happens in your account.

4.Acceptable use

We want Hissas to stay safe and useful for everyone, so you may not:

  • use it for anything illegal or upload illegal content;
  • harass or abuse other users, or send them spam;
  • try to break into the service, bypass its protections, access other people’s data or deliberately overload it;
  • impersonate someone else or knowingly enter misleading information.

5.Your content

The groups, expenses and receipt photos you add remain yours. You allow us to store them and show them to the people you share them with (group members, or the other person in a direct expense), only to run the service.

You are responsible for what you upload; don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to share.

6.Amounts and payments

  • Hissas calculates balances from the amounts users enter, and we don’t guarantee that what is entered is correct.
  • Balances in Hissas are not an official statement or a financial or legal document.
  • You and your friends are responsible for the actual payments between you; recording a settlement in Hissas does not prove that money was paid.
  • Currency conversion uses approximate exchange rates and is for guidance only.

7.The service as it is

We provide Hissas free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it reliable and secure, but we don’t promise that it will always work or be free of errors, and we may change or retire features.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for disputes between users about money.

8.Suspending accounts

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, abuse the service or harm other users.

You can stop using Hissas at any time, and ask us to delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy.

9.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; when we do, we change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Hissas after an update means you accept it.

10.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Iraq.
